The Mad Fox Taproom (2218 Wisconsin Ave.) is slated to finally open this spring, more than a year behind schedule, according to the Washington Business Journal. Surprises during renovations of the aged building have created delays and raised construction costs from $500,000 to $1.3 million, reporter Rebecca Cooper writes. Adds the writer: “Future plans include family happy-hour deals offering inexpensive children’s plates, with the lure of a free cookie if the vegetables are eaten.”

Interested parties should apply in person from noon to 4 p.m. weekdays. The currently vacant building is the former home of Town Hall, which moved up the street to 2340 Wisconsin Ave. in January.

Although no opening date has been announced for the new restaurant, named Mayfair & Pine, the help-wanted sign suggests that the wait won’t be too much longer.
