A Glover Park reporter’s online annotation of Moby-Dick will be printed as an illustrated limited edition book, if a Liverpool professor’s Kickstarter campaign succeeds. The reporter, Margaret Guroff, annotated Moby-Dick in 2008 and published it online at powermobydick.com. Now, professor Christopher Routledge is seeking to publish the annotations as part of a reader’s edition of Moby-Dick, to be printed in time for a marathon reading of the novel to be held in Liverpool on May 4 and 5. “Publishing a fine edition of this novel has been a dream of mine for a long time, and the Power Moby-Dick version lends itself exactly to this kind of book,” Routledge writes. “We are hoping it will also prove invaluable to educators, perhaps to use alongside the website as a classroom resource.”

The professor’s campaign runs until February 1, and the books will be printed only if his goal of £7100 in pledges is reached. At this writing, the tally stood just short of £4,000. Each person who pledges £20 will receive a copy of the book. For more information or to pledge, visit kickstarter.com/projects/1531710148/a-beautiful-annotated-edition-of-moby-dick.
