 Glover Park Hardware is scheduled to reopen this month. The store, which lost its lease at 2251 Wisconsin Avenue in January, has rented the basement storefront next to Breadsoda at 2233 Wisconsin Ave. The vacant, 7,500-square-foot space is the former home of LADO language school.

“We love our Glover Park community and we were committed to reopening in this neighborhood,” co-owner Gina Schaefer said in a press release. Neighbors interested in news of the reopening can sign up for bulletins by emailing gloverfans@acehardwaredc.com.

Glover Park Hardware (formerly of 2251 Wisconsin Ave.) “will reopen in the old LADO space at 2233 Wisconsin Avenue, hopefully by late spring,” according to ANC Commissioner Jackie Blumenthal. The LADO language school formerly occupied the ground-floor retail space next door to Breadsoda.

“This is terrific news,” Blumenthal posted to the Glover Park Yahoo newsgroup this morning. “Spread it around.” Done!

Brown paper Chick-fil-A 5/4/2014

The former home of the Lado language school, next door to Breadsoda (2233 Wisconsin Ave.), has accumulated some perplexing signs on its papered-over storefront. Along with two copies of an electrical permit issued for a different building—2218 Wisconsin Ave., the future home of Mad Fox Brewing Company—the ex-Lado entrance bears the logo of Georgia-based fast-food chain Chick-fil-A.Chick-fil-A logo at 2233 Wisc

A Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs spokesman could locate no building permit application or DC business license for Chick-fil-A. We’ve made an inquiry with Chick-fil-A’s corporate headquarters and will update when they respond.

UPDATE: We’ve heard no response from Chick-fil-A, but a representative for the landlord, Carr Properties, tells us that the vacant space has not been leased. “We will be sure to remove anything that has been posted to the doors,” she says.
