A new yoga studio has opened at 2201 Wisconsin Ave., next to Wide World of Wines. Yoga District “offers affordable and by-donation yoga classes in community-run yoga centers committed to eco-friendly practices,” according to its website. The storefront space had been vacant since 2010. It was previously occupied by Georgetowne Lock.

Georgetowne Lock has closed its 2201 Wisconsin Avenue storefront, but proprietor Lon Porter still offers 24-hour service through his Georgetown line, 202-625-7233. Asked why he closed his Glover Park location, Porter made joking reference to a political party in the recent New York governor’s race: “The rent is too damn high!” Porter provides discounts to senior citizens, members of the military, and those paying in cash.
