Owner Bill Thomas “has wanted to renovate what he calls a ‘very disjointed’ building for years, but didn’t want to begin any major projects until he was able to purchase the real estate, which happened just over a year ago,” the Post reports. Plans include new plumbing and electrical systems, new bathrooms, a new roof, and step-free access to the front patio and main dining room, according to the paper. Thomas also plans to add 1,000 square feet of space to the rear of the building, which is expected to reopen—with a new name and a more ambitious menu—next fall.

An exhibition by a local art duo called Duly Noted Painters opens Saturday, June 13 at Bourbon (2348 Wisconsin Ave.). “Similar to jazz musicians, at times we work together simultaneously,” the artists, Kurtis Ceppetelli and Matthew Malone, wrote in a statement. “Unlike traditional collaborations, our process does not adhere to a set formula dictating who does what. This allows for dramatic changes in mood, color, and feeling within each piece and leads to surprising and often unexpected results.” The mixed-media artwork will remain on display at the bar through June 20.
There’s a free opening event on June 13 at 6:30 pm. Guests who RSVP in advance will be eligible to win a free Duly Noted sketch. For more info, visit https://www.eventbrite.com/e/sketch-show-tickets-17032239888.

Bourbon (2348 Wisconsin Ave.) marks its 10th year in business with a party from 7 to 10 p.m. tonight, July 22, at its Glover Park location, The Washington Post reports.
“Bartenders will pour free whiskey and free craft beer, while the staff passes free hors d’oeuvres,” the Post writes. “Obviously, not every drink in the house will be free, and the food will be more like snacks than a full meal…. Make sure you ask about which whiskeys are complementary before asking for a glass of, say, Parker’s Heritage and getting sticker shock when the bill arrives.”
On March 23 from 1 to 3 p.m., five Glover Park chefs will go huevo a huevo for the title of best deviled-egg maker in the neighborhood. Whole Foods Market (2323 Wisconsin Ave.) is hosting the contest, in which shoppers will sample the contenders and vote for their favorite. Chefs from Mayfair & Pine (2218 Wisconsin Ave.), Slate Wine Bar & Bistro (2404 Wisconsin Ave.), Bourbon (2348 Wisconsin Ave.), and Breadsoda (2233 Wisconsin Ave.) will compete with a Whole Foods staffer for top honors.
UPDATE: Mayfair & Pine and Breadsoda dropped out of the contest, and Whole Foods staffers submitted two different entries. The winner was a smoked salmon deviled egg from the Whole Foods seafood team.
“From Monday, Jan. 14 through Monday, Jan. 21, the D.C. Council is allowing some restaurants and bars to stay open 24 hours a day and serve alcohol until 4 a.m.,” The Washington Post reports. “Being authorized to stay open late doesn’t guarantee that a bar will definitely be open around the clock for a full week…. It just means an establishment can stay open later if the owner chooses, or if the place is booked for a special event.”
On the list of 154 bars approved for extended hours were four in Glover Park:
Bourbon (2348 Wisconsin Avenue, NW),
Breadsoda (2233 Wisconsin Avenue, NW),
Good Guys (2311 Wisconsin Avenue, NW), and
Mason Inn (2408 Wisconsin Avenue, NW).
