Around 2 a.m. on Sunday August 3, two twentysomething male patrons at Town Hall (2340 Wisconsin Ave.) got into an argument after one drank a shot of liquor meant for the other, according to sources. When the accused shot swiper then started to down another shot, his accuser threw a punch mid-sip and hit the shot glass, busting his antagonist’s lip in three places. The puncher has been charged with mayhem, a police spokesman said. The punch-ee received medical attention and was not charged with theft, due to lack of evidence, the spokesman added.

The family-friendly, fish-centric, English-pub-style restaurant coming to 2218 Wisconsin Ave. is recruiting front-of-house staff, according to a sign in the window. “Open call for bartenders, servers, bussers, hosts,” the sign states. Interested parties should apply in person from noon to 4 p.m. weekdays. The currently vacant building is the former home of Town Hall, which moved up the street to 2340 Wisconsin Ave. in January.

Although no opening date has been announced for the new restaurant, named Mayfair & Pine, the help-wanted sign suggests that the wait won’t be too much longer.

Reposted verbatim from Craigslist as a public service:

Town Hall [2340 Wisconsin Ave.] in Glover Park is currently hiring the following positions:
-Hostesses
-Servers
-Bussers/runners

We are a busy neighborhood gem that is gearing up to open our large back patio. We are looking for a couple self starters and friendly faces to join our team! We are offering both full time and part time availability, with plenty of room to grow within our company. This is not an ad for bartenders… please do not tell me about how sweet bartending school was, and do not inquire about the server position if you plan on interviewing and asking about a bartending position. Please include a resume (previous service industry experience is not required) as well as a well thought out reason as to why you think you would make a great addition to our team. Students are welcome to apply as well; however, we are looking for people that would stay throughout the summer.

If you’re interested (and not a bartender), here is a link to the ad: Craigslist.
