When four owners of George, a drinking club at 3251 Prospect Street in Georgetown, bought part ownership in Gin & Tonic at 2408 Wisconsin Avenue last year, they promised to revamp the Glover Park bar to serve a slightly older, calmer crowd. But at George, it seems, the crowd is every bit as boisterous as Gin & Tonic’s current clientele—if not more so.
As the Georgetown Dish reports today, George’s neighbors complain of disruptions caused by club patrons. “They get sick, they get drunk. They are standing outside there,” an unnamed source told the Dish. “Many times we have seen people puke.”
Dancing is currently prohibited by the club’s liquor license, but the Dish reports that it frequently occurs there. The blog quotes one satisfied customer on Yelp: “This place gets drunker, and louder, and more festive as the night goes on, to the point where by 1:30 or 2 everyone from one end of the bar to the other is dancing, or making out, or both.”
