To officially mark its shift in focus from wines to craft beers, Blue Ridge (2340 Wisconsin) is hosting a week of “Octoberfest” events, starting with a neighborhood party on Tuesday, October 12. From 6 to 7:30 pm, anyone with a Georgetown or Glover Park ZIP code can sample beers and nosh for free. Then, the party continues till 10, with discounted rates on food and drink. “Kids are, of course, welcome,” says Blue Ridge co-owner Eli Hengst, whose restaurant also hosts “stroller happy-hours” for patrons with children in tow.
Check out the restaurant’s blog for details on the rest of the week’s events, which include a glassware giveaway October 13, a five-course dinner October 14, Belgian-style beer tasting October 15, local food and beer tasting October 16, and an “industry appreciation day” October 17 to honor both professional and home brewers.
