From the June 2010 edition of the Glover Park Gazette:
There’s a new gym in town: Balance at 2121 Wisconsin, alongside SomaFit spa. Since January, Balance has been offering monthly memberships at $99 with no long-term contract and has been waiving its $99 initiation fee for new members. Though fitness has long been part of SomaFit, Balance is expanding the gym space to include a dedicated Pilates studio, a mind/body studio, and classes including pole pressure, CrossFit, boot camp, and kettlebell, says co-owner Graham King. The gym is also adding more cardio machines and freeweights.
What distinguishes Balance from other gyms in the area, says King, is a sense of fun and community: “We frequently have activities outside the gym, such as bike rides, workouts, cookouts, and other group activities to help form the community feel.” Both King and co-owner Mark Crick—a former pro rugby player—train clients and teach classes as part of a staff of trainers.
