Zoning board OK’s Massage Escape Spa

From the December/January 2013 edition of the Glover Park Gazette:

On October 2, the Massage Escape Spa Company won zoning approval to construct a massage spa at 2352 Wisconsin Ave., next door to Bourbon. The spa is planned for the building’s second and third floors. It will feature a reception area plus eight private massage rooms, according to plans submitted to the National Capital Planning Commission. As we have previously reported, the building’s first floor is in the process of becoming a nail salon.

Manicure shop and massage spa moving forward

From the September 2012 edition of the Glover Park Gazette:

Work has begun on a manicure shop in the first floor of 2352 Wisconsin Ave., the former home of Shade & Shutter Shack. A building permit posted in the window lists the shop’s name as Head and Nails. A therapeutic massage business planned for the building’s upper floors has applied for zoning approval under the name of Massage Escape Spa Company. A Board of Zoning Adjustment hearing on the matter is scheduled for October 2.

Nail salon confirmed for old Shade & Shutter Shack building

We’d heard rumors that part of 2352 Wisconsin Ave., the former home of Shade & Shutter Shack, would become a manicure shop, but now there’s proof. A building permit application filed last week for the vacant building—which is located next door to Bourbon (2348 Wisconsin Ave.)—is for “interior work for a nail salon,” a source at the Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs tells us.

As previously reported, another part of the building is slated to be turned into a therapeutic massage business, if city approvals go through. Representatives of the business, Massage Escape Spa, will address Advisory Neighborhood Commission 3B at their June 14 meeting to request support for their plan.
