Ligne Roset and Natuzzi Italy are coming to Glover Park. The high-end furniture retailers have jointly leased the wide, lower-level storefront at 2209 Wisconsin Ave., according to property manager Cynthia Cumbo. The space has been vacant since Mobili furniture closed more than three years ago. The new tenants “are in the early planning stages, but the space should be ready in March,” Cumbo says.

A man who poured gasoline on a bouncer at Good Guys (2311 Wisconsin Ave.) and lit him on fire has been convicted of the bouncer’s murder. In November, 2007, Vasile Graure was asked to leave the strip club for trying to photograph one of the dancers. He returned a few minutes later with gasoline, which he threw on staffer Vladimir Djordjevic (pictured above) and ignited. Djordjevic suffered severe burns, and died of his injuries in May, 2010. Graure—then already serving a 30-year prison term for the assault—was charged with murder.

On January 20, a jury found Graure guilty of felony murder while armed. His sentencing is scheduled for March 23.

BreadSoda (2233 Wisconsin Ave.) has a new quizmaster. Dalton Hirshorn has taken over the bar’s Monday night trivia contest, which starts at 7:30 and ends with one team winning $50 off its tab and a second team taking home “some beer-themed swag or perhaps a bottle of unusual flavored vodka,” Hirshorn tells us. The quiz was previously run by a trivia company, with questions that sometimes perplexed the host as much as the players, in our experience. But Hirshorn writes his own questions. His interests include “bad movies, art & architecture, history & whatnot,” he tells us, “but I do make an effort to make the questions as broad-based as possible.”

Where this leaves the dormant liquor license for JP’s—one of the few in the District that allows nude dancing—is unclear. The Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration approved the license’s transfer to a new owner, one Brian Petruska, in October, and it seemed JP’s would reopen, but negotiations on leasing the building must have foundered. Restrictions on where strip clubs can operate in the District are so onerous that it’s unlikely JP’s could reopen anywhere other than its old location, which was destroyed in a 2008 fire.

Rocklands (2418 Wisconsin Ave.) can now serve alcohol starting at 10 a.m. on Sunday mornings, after the ABC Board approved its request to move its opening time forward one hour. Owner John Snedden says the extra hour will allow the restaurant to better serve its Sunday-morning crowd of football and steeplechase fans preparing to tailgate.

A man charged with threatening a staffer of Kitchen (2404 Wisconsin Ave.) has agreed to a plea deal in the case. Matthew Robertson was escorted from the restaurant on July 24 because he was setting napkins on fire, according to police and court documents. Once outside the bar, he produced a knife and waved it at a staffer, a police report said. On October 26, Robertson agreed to perform 48 hours of community service and stay out of trouble for six months. If he does so, the case against him will be dismissed.
