Arcuri is hiring for an early June opening

Arcuri is accepting applications for all its hourly positions through Friday, according to a Craigslist post: “Experience is a plus but detail oriented, hard working and fun are a must!” The Venice-style trattoria is taking over the former Kavanagh’s Pizza Pub space at 2400 Wisconsin Ave. Co-owner Adam Hiltebeitel says he anticipates opening around June 5, but “we’ll certainly be at Glover Park Day” on June 1 with pizza and other offerings.

Though the full menu is still “a work in progress,” according to Hiltebeitel, the draft includes misticanza salad with duck prosciutto, Sicilian pinenuts, and ramp dressing ($9.50); wood-fired pork chop with vinegar peppers, glazed cipollini, and pork jus ($20); and pizza toppings such as green apple, fennel sausage, and broccoli rabe.

Mayfair & Pine is hiring

The family-friendly, fish-centric, English-pub-style restaurant coming to 2218 Wisconsin Ave. is recruiting front-of-house staff, according to a sign in the window. “Open call for bartenders, servers, bussers, hosts,” the sign states. Interested parties should apply in person from noon to 4 p.m. weekdays. The currently vacant building is the former home of Town Hall, which moved up the street to 2340 Wisconsin Ave. in January.

Although no opening date has been announced for the new restaurant, named Mayfair & Pine, the help-wanted sign suggests that the wait won’t be too much longer.

Old Europe needs a hard-working cook

Local German landmark restaurant looking for qualified, dedicated and industrious sous chef or well rounded cook. Duties will include the daily rigors of a busy restaurant. Lunch, dinner, banquet and catering business all included!

12 hour days, double shifts and closed on Monday and certain holidays! Is expected to work Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

St. Luke’s Shelter seeks on-call staffer

St. Luke’s Shelter [at 3655 Calvert St., across from Guy Mason], a transitional shelter for 6 chronically homeless men, is looking for a part-time on-call staff aide to join our team in helping to provide a safe, sober, and secure environment for our residents. This person will fill in for shelter staff on a scheduled or emergency basis and must be able to work on a flexible basis.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Be aware of personal health and welfare needs of residents, and encourage them to seek any needed assistance from their primary case managers.
• Observe and provide appropriate crisis intervention to residents when needed.
• Conduct intake and exit interviews with residents.
• Conduct house meetings as needed.
• In coordination with residential supervisor, other shelter staff aides and the shelter director help lead life-skills groups for residents.
• Maintain accurate shift notes; resident warnings; and critical incident reports.
• Ensure the policies and procedures of St. Luke’s Shelter are carried out correctly.
• Help identify, along with shelter aides, director and residential supervisor, areas for program growth.

SCHEDULE: This is an on-call position, so candidates must be able to work on short notice. The shelter is open from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. every day of the year, including holidays.

Desired Qualification: Experience working or volunteering with individuals who are homeless, and/or have history of mental illness or substance abuse.

Z-Burger living awkwardly in the past

New bar opening at … Heritage India? (Update)

Check out this Craigslist posting (especially if you’re a bartender with a following looking for a job in Glover Park). Which “established restaurant in Glover Park” with a Dupont Circle affiliate has the room and the license to “add a legitimate bar” by late May? Heritage India seems the most likely suspect—its first-floor barroom has been idle for the past year or so—but if you have other ideas, spill ‘em in the comments.

UPDATE: We responded to the ad and heard back from an employee of Heritage India’s Dupont Circle location, who confirmed that the renovated bar space in Glover Park is set to reopen this month with a regular South Asian tapas happy hour. Details as events warrant.
