The new owners of JP’s Night Club (2412 Wisconsin Ave.) intend to return nude dancing to the club’s long-vacant former home. Paul Kadlick, a representative of the ownership group, will discuss the group’s plans at the May meeting of ANC 3B.
JP’s operated as a strip club from 1986 through January 2008, when a fire destroyed its original building. In the intervening years, the building has been replaced and the business sold. A group of neighbors and the ANC opposed the dormant club’s liquor license renewal last year. Though the license was renewed, the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board did impose new limits on the club in the process, forbidding it from offering live entertainment before 5 p.m. (Dancers at Good Guys at 2311 Wisconsin Ave., Glover Park’s other strip club, can start work at 11 a.m.)
According to news reports and public documents, Kadlick is also opening a strip club in Ivy City over neighborhood protests. That establishment, located at 2046 West Virginia Ave., NE, will include a sports bar, a game room, and a restaurant along with nude dancers, Kadlick told TBD.com last summer. “We’re going to be a very upscale club.”
Other items on the ANC agenda include an update on Wisconsin Avenue streetscape project and a discussion of potential bus stop consolidations on the D1, D2, and 30′s routes. The ANC meeting is at 7 p.m. Thursday May 10 at Stoddert Elementary School.

Any updates to when or if this is opening again?
Nothing concrete. A building permit was applied for on June 19; the details of these are not public information until the permit is approved, but presumably it’s for interior construction. When I last checked with ABRA about a week ago, there was no application on file to take the liquor license out of safekeeping or to transfer it from Brian Petruska, who bought the company from Michael Papanicolas last year, to Paul Kadlick or to Gokhan “Jake” Akkus, who are principals of a company called The Vice Group, LLC, that has bought a controlling share of the club, according to what Kadlick told ANC 3B in May.
